Energy Efficiency Investment Credit

Beginning May 27, 2015, approximately 3% of our income-eligible Ameren Missouri electric customers may qualify for a monthly credit to offset the Energy Efficiency Investment Charge (EEIC). This charge pays for energy efficiency programs we offer to help customers better manage electric usage without sacrificing comfort.

The credit is applicable for:
•Any Ameren Missouri residential electric customer who has received assistance from Missouri Energy Assistance (e.g., Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program or LIHEAP), Winter Energy Crisis Intervention Program, Summer Energy Crisis Intervention Program, Keeping Current Low Income Pilot Program, or the Keeping Cool Low Income Pilot Program.

Receiving the credit:
•Ameren Missouri residential electric customers who have received energy assistance on their Ameren Missouri energy statement in any of the prior 12 billing months, from one of the qualifying programs above, will not have to take action and should automatically receive the EEIC credit on their Ameren Missouri energy statement for 12 months starting with the month of a qualifying energy assistance deposit.

•Ameren Missouri residential electric customers who have received energy assistance on their non-Ameren Missouri utility bill in any of the prior 12 billing months, from one of the qualifying programs above, is eligible to receive the credit but will need to provide Ameren Missouri with the required documentation in order to receive the credit. The required documentation can be submitted via:

Emailmyhomeamerenmissouri@ameren.com
Standard mail: Ameren Missouri, P. O. Box 790098, St. Louis, MO 63179-0352

Required documentation of the non-Ameren Missouri assistance:
•A copy of the Division of Social Services Family Support Division (“DSSFSD”) form EA-7 energy assistance payment notice received by the income-eligible customer,  a copy of the DSSFSD LIHEAP Energy Assistance direct payment check received by the income-eligible customer, a copy of the Contract Agency energy crisis intervention program (“ECIP”) payment notification letter received by the income-eligible customer, or a printout of the  customer’s DSSFSD LIHEAP EA E1RG System Registration screen identifying the supplier, benefit amount and payment processing date.

•Upon receipt of required documentation, Ameren Missouri will credit the customer’s account for energy efficiency investment charges and any municipal charges attributable to the EEIC charges that were previously charged to the customer within twelve billing months following the documented receipt of energy assistance; provided that the customer shall not be entitled to any credit. Customers will not be credited for EEIC charges and associated municipal charges incurred and billed prior to the June 2015 implementation of the low income exemption.

•Upon receipt of the required documentation, for the remainder of the twelve months following the documented receipt of energy assistance, Ameren Missouri will exempt the customer from any Rider EEIC charges thereafter imposed. The exemption will be noted on the customer’s bill as an EEIC charge, followed by a credit.

•The EEIC credit is a 12-month rolling credit. For instance, if the last time a customer received energy assistance was July, 2014, he will receive a credit for only June 2015 since the program began at the end of May 2015. If the customer then received another energy assistance deposit in October 2014, the EEIC credit will apply through September 2015. This cycle starts over each time a customer receives a qualifying credit from one of the agencies.

•The average qualifying customer will save approximately $4 per month or around $48 a year; however, individual customer savings will vary based on monthly energy usage.

•All Ameren Missouri customers are encouraged to participate in Ameren Missouri's energy efficiency programs to maximize savings. (rebate information)
