Demand Response Program
Commercial and industrial customers can earn payments for agreeing to reduce energy consumption temporarily when called upon. The program helps Ameren Missouri maintain reliable and efficient power availability during periods of high demand, and compensates customers based on the amount of capacity they are able to remove from the grid when needed. These measures typically include shutting down non-essential lighting or re-scheduling equipment maintenance that requires downtime.
Demand response programs provide an opportunity for commercial, institutional, and industrial organizations to earn money and drive energy savings while helping maintain reliable electricity throughout Ameren Missouri’s service territory.
When the demand for electricity approaches critical peak levels, Ameren Missouri calls on our Demand Response Network, which is made up of local organizations that have agreed to reduce energy usage during times of high demand.
Program participants earn capacity payments for agreeing to be on standby and curtail electricity consumption in response to abnormally high electricity demand.
Ameren Missouri partnered with Enel X, the world leader in demand response, to manage your participation from start to finish. Enel X will assist demand response participants to create custom energy reduction plans to maximize earnings while minimizing disruption in your facilities. They'll also manage enrollment, measurement, verification, and payments on your behalf.
