When R & S Machining needed to lower costs in order to be competitive with other potential locations, it looked to the Ameren Missouri service territory. R & S supplies to a variety of aerospace companies across the United States and sought to shorten the supply chain to some of their customers. As a small business, they spend considerable resources on recruiting talent and training, so incentives like Ameren Missouri’s Economic Development Incentive rate helped lower operating costs of their expansion effort and allowed them to focus on their business goals. Additionally, the company has relationships with local school districts and community colleges to hire and train qualified individuals with technical aptitude. R & S plans to double their workforce over the next six years and pays a competitive average wage.
The president of General Motors and Governor Parson recently announced an investment in the Wentzville plant where they produce Chevrolet Colorados and the GMC Canyons. Ameren Missouri's Economic Development Incentive helped to bring this investment in our state. "The General Motors expansion is great for Missouri. With the Ameren Missouri Smart Energy Plan, we are investing in new technology and electrical infrastructure to benefit all customers while providing one of the best economic development incentives in the country to bring even more business to the communities we serve. This is a great competitive edge to continue growing the local workforce and our economy," said Marty Lyons, chairman and president of Ameren Missouri.
