Illinois Rivers Project
Ameren Transmission Company of Illinois (ATXI) has completed and energized its largest transmission line project. The 375-mile, 345-kV Illinois Rivers Project will provide greater energy reliability, increased transmission capacity and lower-cost energy from renewable sources for Midwestern families and businesses. The transmission line extends from Palmyra, Missouri, to Sugar Creek, Indiana.
About the Project
Four towers are required for this river crossing, two are on the east side and two on the west side of the Illinois River. The Meredosia-Ipava river crossing towers will reach a height of 486 feet with a span of more than 3700 feet between the large towers and 7300 feet between the dead end towers. The estimated $1.4 billion, 375 mile-long Illinois Rivers Transmission Project was completed in December of 2020.
