Pure Power
As part of our 2019 rate review, the Missouri Public Service Commission approved the transition of the Pure Power program to a subscription-based program called Community Solar. Community Solar participants receive the same benefits of the Pure Power program. The renewable energy generated though the Community Solar program is supplied to the Ameren Missouri grid to power your home or business.
The Pure Power program is not available for Illinois customers.
About Pure Power

Pure Power funds are used to purchase Green-e Energy Certified Renewable Energy Certificates from regional wind energy and other renewable generation facilities.

No contract is required to participate in the Pure Power program. Pure Power customers may cancel their participation in the program at any time by contacting the Ameren Missouri Customer Service Center at 800.552.7583.

Participation in this program does not constitute the purchase of energy. Renewable Energy Certificates, which represent the environmental attributes associated with past renewable energy generation, are retired on behalf of program participants. All RECs purchased under this program are Green-e Energy Certified® by the independent Center for Resource Solutions.

For a complete list of the resources included in Pure Power along with highlights of the conditions of your subscription, view the Product Content Label below.

Renewable Energy Certificates

Renewable Energy Certificates, also known as “green tags or credits,” are proof that 1 megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable energy was generated and delivered to the regional power pool. They represent the environmental attributes of the power produced from renewable energy projects. RECs are sold separately from the electricity commodity.

For every unit of renewable energy generated and delivered to the regional power pool, an equivalent number of RECs are created, representing a tracking mechanism to ensure that no two customers pay for the same unit of renewable energy generation.

When you sign up for Pure Power, Ameren Missouri contracts for RECs to match the equivalent of your ongoing electrical needs or the number of Pure Power "Blocks"* you elect to purchase. Thus, the more RECs that are sold, the more demand is created for renewable power. As renewable facilities sell their RECs, demand shifts to bring more renewable energy sources online.

*1 "Block" = 1 Renewable Energy Certificate = 1,000 kilowatthours

Green-e Energy was established by the non-profit Center for Resource Solutions to provide information and an objective standard for consumers to compare renewable energy options and to verify that consumers get what they pay for. Ameren Missouri voluntarily accepts and supports the Green-e Energy code of conduct and customer disclosure requirements and independent verification methods.

Green-e Energy assures customers that Ameren Missouri portrays their Pure Power renewable energy option accurately. The Green-e Energy logo shown here can only be used with renewable energy options like this one that undergo in-depth audits to meet Green-e Energy’s high standards of environmental and marketing integrity.
