Frequently Asked Questions
Outages can be caused by non-weather-related factors, like traffic accidents or construction work. When Ameren turns off power for system improvements, we will call you with a recorded message. If you did not receive a call, it’s possible we have the wrong phone number on file. Log in to your account to check that your information is updated.
Yes. To report a street light problem, please call us toll free at 1.800.552.7583.
Flickering lights are not usually cause for alarm. Flickering lights, also known as momentary outages, can occur when your equipment is protecting the electrical system from harm, or when crews are re-routing your service due to an outage or repair.
If you notice your lights flickering several times within the same week, call us toll free at 1.800.552.7583. An electrician may need to check the wiring in your home.
Though Ameren works hard every day to keep power running, outages do happen — and you can prepare now, when everything is normal. Visit our Outage Preparation page for tips on how to protect your home.
